<![CDATA[3rd Annual Sharks Fall Fest and Fundraiser]]>Mon, 07 Oct 2024 23:37:42 GMThttps://coachmans.net/home/3rd-annual-sharks-fall-fest-and-fundraiser]]><![CDATA[Sign the Petition 10/13]]>Mon, 07 Oct 2024 23:35:08 GMThttps://coachmans.net/home/sign-the-petition-1013The intersection of Six Forks Road and Carriage Trail in Wake County, NC has been described by many residents as a literal death trap. Two serious collisions have recently occurred at this intersection. Tragically, these were not just fender benders; one resulted in serious permanent injuries, the other took the life of a much loved neighbor.
The number of accidents and near misses at this intersection has increased. It is not uncommon to witness speeding, disregard for traffic regulations, and haphazard driving at this location. Because of the curve, vehicles traveling in the northbound lane of Six Forks Road at speeds greater than the "suggested" 35 MPH present imminent danger.
We urge the NCDOT authorities to introduce appropriate speed and/or traffic flow control measures to ensure the safety of residents who use this intersection daily. We understand that measures such as traffic lights, speed bumps, or road signage, have proven to be effective at other locations. The curve, speed, and proximity of the curve to the intersection with Carriage Trail, increases the level of risk at this location: creating the need for a more dynamic solution.
